Nature in Design – Taking A Leaf Out of Mother Nature’s Book

The natural world will always be one of the most humbling and majestic sources of inspiration for design.  It’s ability to adapt readily to ever changing situations and environments whilst remaining constantly beautiful is something designers/creators/artists and our team here at RRR, are frequently inspired by.

Nature’s colour ways are always in harmony, its form is always developed around its function – Intelligence and Beauty combined - obviously the design/LIFE ethos we live by. Repeatedly used in fashion, art and interiors, it’s a theme that never gets old and can be constantly adapted to fit trends and styles.

This cooler than cool wallpaper/fabric design from East London interior design brand House of Hackney could happily cover every tactile surface in our homes.

Our designers are, of course, in the know and here at RedRubyRouge we LOVE functionality combined with beauty – it’s the ultimate combo and nature does it best, so we’ve picked some of our most unique and interesting pieces that use the natural world as inspiration.

Kertis

One of our newest obsessions are these little clutches from New York designer, Jessica Kertis Ulrich. Practical but oh so beautiful, these pretty pouches are the perfect size to hold your daily necessities – phone, keys, dolla – sorted.

Jessica’s bags are entirely hand crafted from the softest leather ever and delicately painted in an elegant palm leaf motif.

Elizabeth Stone

Elizabeth Schricker’s natural gemstone pieces have become a staple here at RedRubyRouge – we just keep ‘em coming!

The LA based jewellery label, Elizabeth Stone, uses semi precious stones to create the laid back, California, free spirited attitude we crave when Holywood, Co. Down seems a million miles from Hollywood, CA. Take us there…

Lee Coren

Israeli textile designer Lee Coren has the life.

Travelling the world taking beautiful photographs of beautiful things - majestic landscapes, always finding beauty in the seemingly ordinary. Then, all that’s left to do is return home to her studio in Tel Aviv to screen print said lovelies onto cotton canvas to make into these gorgeous foldover clutches we can’t put down.

So, our friends, adorn yourself in gemstones to feel closer to the earth.

Carry clutches that will transport you to warmer climes.

But most importantly, let the natural world inspire you to get out and enjoy a little bit of it.
