Tucker by Gaby Basora

Tucker by Gaby Basora

Gaby Basora was always inspired by the responses when she wore things that she made for herself - "that jacket is beautiful, where did you get that dress… ?" A year ago, when she made the one shirt and then another fifty to see it in different fabrics, she was completely smitten. She had never seen more than one of something she had designed. To make these shirts, she slowly amassed a collection of various fabrics; cotton voiles, silks, jerseys, prints all piled high in her closet and worked on perfecting one simple silhouette. She wore a different shirt every day. Her friends all wanted one or two or three and their friends started to come by her place to buy them. Fashion Store Barney's was the first store to place an order and then six weeks later they placed another order and six weeks later another order! The piece that started Tucker is not some fantastic multi layered evening gown (that Gaby would love to do). The first Tucker was and is a very simple blouse with interesting details, beautiful fabric and an untraditionally seductive fit. From that piece the first dress was born. And now four other pieces in a collection that she hopes to keep growing in the same lovely fashion.
